Join us this Spring of 2025 for a season of Prayer & Fasting. One of our core values at LifePointe is “We pray bigger than we plan.” So, during 2025 as we focus on “Preparing a Seat at the Table” by loving our neighbors through hospitality, we seek God together through a special season of Prayer & Fasting.
How do I participate?
Register below and click on the button that says “I’M IN” so we can send weekly encouragements and the opportunity to share how God is working through this season!
During these 6 weeks leading up to Easter (known through church history as “Lent” and traditionally observed with prayer and fasting), use the daily prayer guide and Scripture prompts to position your soul in the Word of God, and to pray for your neighbors.
Use this guide as a standalone resource, or in addition to any other Bible reading Plans or devotional guides you may already use. It can be used in as little as 5 minutes, or as a starting point for longer prayer and study.
Fasting
We invite you to consider fasting or abstaining from something as you use this guide; doing so can help awaken and focus our desire for God over distractions and other desires.
Start late, or miss a day or two? No problem! This is an invitational opportunity; join (or re-join!) whenever you are able.
FAQs
What is fasting? Fasting is to go without food for a period of time in order to intentionally seek God in prayer. We invite you to join us in fasting regularly during this special season of Prayer & Fasting by taking a step of fasting that makes sense for you.
How should I fast? During a season of fasting, you might set aside:
- Your typical morning snack between meals to seek God in prayer for your neighbors, or
- One meal a week (“breakfast on Mondays”) to seek God in prayer, or
- One meal a day (“Lunch every day”) to seek God in prayer, or
- Breakfast and lunch daily to seek God in prayer, or
- Some other pattern or habit of fasting that positions your body’s hunger to remind yourself of your need for God.
The details matter less than the heart to seek God over and above the sustenance of food that our bodies crave.
What about fasting from other things? Abstaining is when we give something up besides food in order to seek God. This may also be helpful to consider as you seek God in prayer, alongside fasting. Examples could include: abstaining from touching my phone when I wake up until after I spend time seeking God in prayer and Scripture, or: abstaining from social media during Lent in order to become more sensitive to opportunities to pray for my neighbors.
What if I miss a day or two, or start late? Just pickup where you left off! There is no shame in jumping back in if you miss time for any reason. This season of Prayer & Fasting is an invitational opportunity to seek God together in a special, gracious way.
