LifePointe Church Backyard Project

May 2026

We’d love for you to be part of what’s taking shape right here in our neighborhood. This backyard space is growing into something that’s meant to be shared—where people can gather, kids can play, and neighbors can connect, and we’d love your help bringing it to life. Whether you live nearby, attend LifePointe, or are just looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday, you’re invited to join us for our Planting Party on May 2 and Mulch Day on May 9.

These are relaxed, come-as-you-are kind of days. No special skills needed, just a willingness to pitch in, get a little dirty, and enjoy being outside alongside others. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, work side by side, and take part in creating something that will serve the whole community for years to come. Bring a friend, bring your family, or just come on your own. We’d love to have you with us.

Backyard Update: A Great Day of Planting May 2 (and What’s Next!)

This past planting party was a huge success—and honestly, it came together in the best way. We had just the right number of people show up, and by the end of the day, every single plant was in the ground. It was one of those moments where everything just worked.

Neighbors, friends, and volunteers rolled up their sleeves, jumped in, and made it happen. There was a steady rhythm to the day—digging, placing, watering, stepping back, and doing it all again. And now, when you look at the space, you can really start to see it take shape. It’s no longer just a project—it’s becoming something you can walk through, enjoy, and picture growing in over time.

The fresh dirt berms made planting smooth (and a lot easier on the shovels), and the variety of plants going in added so much texture and life right away. It already feels more inviting, more finished, and more like a place people will gather.

Looking ahead to this week, we’re expecting the drip lines to be installed, which is a big step toward keeping everything healthy and thriving. Then this Saturday, we’ll be spreading mulch to tie it all together; both for the look of the space and to help protect and retain moisture for all those new plants.

We’re getting close to the finish line, and it’s exciting to see how far this space has come. Thanks to everyone who showed up, pitched in, and helped bring it to life.

Spring 2026

Phase 2 of our Backyard Project is well underway, and it’s exciting to see this space begin to take shape in meaningful ways. What was once open ground is becoming a welcoming environment designed to bring people together. New trees have been planted, berms are forming to add dimension and flow to the landscape, and fresh gravel paths are creating natural ways for people to move through and gather.

There’s even more to come. A wide variety of new plants are on the way, adding color, texture, and life to the space. In early May, mulch will be delivered to help tie everything together and prepare the ground for long-term growth.

This project is about more than improving a space; it’s about creating a place where our church and neighborhood can connect. A place for conversations, relationships, and shared experiences to grow. With each step forward, we’re building something that will serve both our church family and our surrounding community for years to come.

Backyard Project Update: Planting Party

We are pleased to announce that the new irrigation system for the Backyard Project is in the final stages of completion. This marks a key milestone in Phase 1 of the project. With the irrigation system operational, we are now prepared to start planting, which will help develop a lively space dedicated to community engagement, connection, and ministry for the future.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who has contributed through prayers, donations, and volunteer efforts to make this project a reality. Your support is fostering more than just landscaping; it is essential in cultivating an environment conducive to building relationships and strengthening faith.

We’re taking steps forward in transforming our neighborhood in our NextSteps2026 vision!  Join us for a “planting party” on Saturday, September 6th, to plant roughly 300 beautiful plants and 9 trees into the church’s backyard.  Imagine watching a tree you planted grow year after year as you partner with our mission to engage our neighbors with the hope of Jesus?

Backyard Project Update: Irrigation System

We are pleased to announce that the new irrigation system for the Backyard Project has been successfully completed. This marks a key milestone in Phase 1 of the project. As we move closer to planting days this fall, we encourage everyone to stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to participate and contribute.

March 2025

We are thrilled to see the completion of the picnic shelter as the anchor of our new community gathering space.  Grateful to Rudkin Contracting as well as Distinctive Welding for their partnership in this portion of the project.  We have also won a third grant with the Nature in the City program with the city of Fort Collins.  This will help us design and implement a new irrigation system that will reduce our water usage and ensure we can properly water the native plants we hope to install this summer.  Look forward to more updates and an invitation to a “Planting Day” sometime this summer.  We hope to work together to plant new native trees and plants that will be both beautiful and drought-tolerant and develop more nature within the city.

December 2024

We were overjoyed to see truckload after truckload of fresh concrete poured into place, steadily transforming the area. As the concrete set and began to take shape, it was exciting to witness the outline of our vision materialize before our eyes. With each new addition, we felt a profound sense of accomplishment, bringing us ever closer to turning this outdoor space into something truly remarkable.

This week, we made significant progress on our backyard project. We were thrilled to receive two loads of boulders and a dumpster, both crucial for realizing our vision. Each new addition brings us closer to transforming the space into something special.

Fall 2024

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to get all of the paperwork and “red tape” completed on this backyard project.  We are pleased to let you know our minor amendment has been approved and we anticipate receiving our permit soon.  This means we anticipate breaking ground on phase one of this project by the end of the calendar year.  We’ll communicate a specific date for “breaking ground” as soon as we can.  Thank you!

Backyard Survey

In 2022, LifePointe began dreaming of transforming our decaying backyard into a beautiful shared space for the community.  We want our backyard to be a blessing to our neighborhood as we seek to be loving neighbors ourselves.  After building a team, we applied for the Nature in the City planning grant and received some funds for the design phase. We were blessed to partner with one of the best local designers – Russel+Mills – who has generously developed a top-notch landscape design at a fraction of their usual fee. They worked with our team to develop a beautiful outdoor space for the community.

In 2023 we again applied for and were granted funds from the Nature in the City program, this time for construction & implementation. We hope to break ground in summer of 2024. As we finalize details for the multi-phase approach to construction we’d love our neighbor’s input.  Please click here to fill out a short survey and give us your feedback on the design.

Here’s the latest draft of a landscape design and some examples of what some of the designs could look like. We hope to see your families, friends, and neighbors enjoying a picnic in this beautiful new outdoor space someday soon!
